May 16, 2015 - So we finished recording our album without killing ourselves or each other, now we're waiting for the first mixes and, most importantly for our hometown fans, getting ready to play some shows!

The next show we'll be playing in Anchorage will be at our old haunt The Carousel on Spenard. Come party with us next Saturday, May 16th. It's 21+, FREE, and the shin-dig will get going about 9pm so don't miss it. Check out the graphic below for all the details, which are also on our shows page. Do us a big favor, too -- check out the Facebook event and RSVP and SHARE that stuff! Anyway, we'll be playing with the Moonracers -- we had such a blast with them last time we decided to do it again -- PJ Franco and the Burnouts, and 3 Kisses. You remember last time we booked with PJ the power blew out, and the last time we booked with 3 Kisses we had to cancel because Dale was stuck in the hospital. So, we're either going to make up for lost time and have an awesome show, or we're all going to die in an electrical fire. Either way you don't want to miss it right?

We've got another project cooking that will probably happen next month. Can't tell you all the details because we still have to dot the I's and cross the T's but we're trying to set up a show closer to our home in the Mat-Su Valley that will probably involve some other bands, some beers, the woods, and some other weird sketchy crap. If we pull it off we want all our valley people to be there so stay tuned!

April 13, 2015 - The album is coming along pretty awesomely. In fact we've been so busy blazing through it we've hardly had time to stop and write about it. We are about five days in and all we have left to do is wrap up the lead vocals on two songs, go through and lay the backup vocals for all 12 of them, then any other punch-ins or extras we may need and it's off to mix/master/complete. Basically it's looking like we'll have busted out a 12-track album in a week. How punk is that?

We've posted a bunch of updates, photos and videos on our Instagram, our Facebook, and our Twitter so if you're into that stuff follow us on your social media of choice. Or better yet, follow us on all of them. Make an account just so you can get crazy with us. Also, on our YouTube, we've posted a two-part video blog to kind of show you all what's going on behind the scenes. So check out the videos below and subscribe to our YouTube channel.

OK, one more last marketing pitch: we're just a bunch of rockers from Alaska putting out our first album. We wouldn't have come this far without you guys, our friends and fans, and we know you won't let us down. We really believe in this and want to make it go huge. So if you're on board and want to help us take it to the next level, share this stuff with your friends. We gotta blast the world and keep rock n' roll alive! So, check out the videos, share with everyone you know, and stay tuned for more updates on the album.

Vicious Mammals Make an Album - Part 1

Vicious Mammals Make an Album - Part 2

March 24, 2015 - Thank you Anchorage for making the last two shows way rad! We had a great time on Saturday at the Carousel and Monday at Pasta Avanti. Awesome turnout, awesome bands, awesome kids, great venues. What more can we say? We had a really good time. We posted some pictures from Saturday up on our photos page, so check those out!

Now I guess it's time to record an album. We're going to go through our last rehearsal here in a few days and then in one week we start tracking scratch tracks and drums. We still have to work out all the details on the album but so far we've just been putting the songs first and hoping that pays off in the long run.

So that about does it for us for shows this spring. We would love to start booking for the summer, though, and we want to take advantage of the good weather and get outta town. We are looking first at the usual Alaska suspects besides Anchorage and the Valley -- Kenai, Fairbanks, Homer, Seward, Girdwood, etc. -- but who knows? We will entertain all semi-plausible offers so feel free to contact us if you'd like us to rock out in YOUR town.

March 17, 2015 - Update!!! Our Anchorage show on Monday March 23 is still on. It has been moved to Pasta Avanti which means it is now downtown and all ages! We'll be playing with Scud Missile, They Leapt from Burning Windows, Counterweight and Tequila Mockingbird. The door is $5 and the show starts at 7pm. Once it again it is all ages BUT if you're 21+ with ID they serve beer and wine there. Of course there will be good Italian food and good jams for everyone and you'll be home and in bed by 11 or 12, so NO EXCUSES! Also, we've updated our Shows page with more info on our Anchorage Carousel show this weekend and some flyers. Check it.

March 11, 2015 - Bad news: our show at the Taproot on March 23rd, 2015 will be moved or cancelled. We hate to keep doing this stuff to you guys but in this case it was no fault of our own; the venue informed the promoter who booked us that they are changing the weekly entertainment schedule and we have no influence over it. So don't show up at the Taproot on Monday looking for us.

All is not lost, though. First off, it sounds like a pretty good chance that Punk Monday might live on in one form or another at an alternative venue and potentially (I stress that point) become an all-ages thing. So we are keeping that date open in hopes that Alaska Punks United can find a new place for throwing shows.

Second, we still have our show at The Carousel booked for March 21st. It's a Saturday night, it's right down the street, and there's NO COVER! Lots of great bands we haven't played with before -- the Moonracers, Dutchess and Jay Straw -- so we are really stoked to make that one a BIG night. Come out and jam with us!

March 03, 2015 - Hey guys, long time no see. We're pretty optimistic that we've put all the power failures, life-threatening illnesses, and hopefully any other disasters behind. Now we are hungry to get out there and rock out! Toward that end, we've got two upcoming Anchorage shows to make up for the last two that fizzled out. We're going to be playing the Carousel on March 21st and the Taproot on March 23rd for Punk Monday. Those are both 21+ shows. It's a ways out, but we are proud to announce that we've also been invited to play the Alaska Punks United "Walk Together, Rock Together" festival at the Tug Bar campgrounds outside of Wasilla. This is an all-ages campout festival with a ton of local and touring bands. It's slated for August 7-9 and it's going to be a blast! So make sure you put that on your calendars. You can learn more about all these shows on our shows page, and we'll update it when we get more info about who's playing.

So we've got some pretty good shows lined up around the greater Anchorage area, and now what we really want to do is book some weekend runs out and about this summer. Seward? Kenai? Soldotna? Homer? Fairbanks? Yukon? Anywhere in the world? We will consider all offers. Hit us up on our contact page if you're interested.

February 18, 2015 - So I'll just cut to the chase: it is with extreme regret that we inform you that our show at the Carousel, scheduled for this Saturday, is postponed until further notice. We take our commitments to you guys very seriously and we wouldn't have taken this step if there was any way we could see pulling it off. However, Dale has come down with a very serious illness (and, at the time he went to the hospital, potentially life-threatening) and it is still unknown when he will be released from the hospital or how long after that he will be on "light duty" before he's ready to rock n' roll to the max. We considered all the options but seeing how he was slated to drum for two bands on the bill, and we are still working in our new bassist who has yet to jam with the entire band aside from his audition, we just couldn't find a way to make it work for us without making it a terrible show.

There are two pieces of good news. The most immediate is that there will still be good times at the Carousel this weekend; there will be a show with Jay Straw and some other bands, so if you are looking for something to do go check them out. Looking at the longer term, Dale is gradually recovering and will hopefully be back on his feet soon. We feel like we are definitely on the right track despite some unanticipated bends and bumps in the road. We are compiling all the demos for the tracks we are recording in April and we are extremely confident that this album is going to be hot! We have the songs, we have the lineup solidified, and we have the studio time booked. We are looking at the silver lining of our recent misfortunes, and seeing the opportunity to reboot and regroup so that we can kick some ass when the tape starts rolling and give you guys the best product possible. Thank you for being patient with us. We will keep you all updated on when some make-up shows might be and when we get some more booked.

February 02, 2015 - Well, friends, we have some good news and some bad news. First, the bad news: Rachel will no longer be serving as bassist of Vicious Mammals. There is no drama surrounding this decision; her time with us has been nothing but awesome and we hope the feeling is mutual. However she is moving on to other adventures in life that will demand her attention and wisely chose to step aside when it became obvious she couldn't give the band the attention she felt it deserved. Of course Rachel will always be a revered member of the Mammals crew and it may not be the last time she thumps around on the bass for us.

However, we are happy to announce that we've added Carl to the line-up as her replacement. We had a good feeling about the guy from the get-go and when we first auditioned him we were very impressed with his musical talents. We are confident he will help us push on to ever greater heights.

Our tentative plan for now is to work Carl in over the next couple weeks and let him debut his bass skills at our Carousel show in Anchorage on February 21st. So make sure you come out to that if you're in town and say goodbye to Rachel and make Carl feel welcome with lots of middle finger salutes!

January 27, 2015 - Well we had a couple of interesting shows over the past few days. Last night at the Taproot in Anchorage we were about half way through the first song in our set when the power went out. I guess we just rocked too hard! Thankfully Dirty Filthy Ryan passed us an acoustic and we were able to get four or five acoustic jams out before the venue said they had to close. As bummed as we were to miss out on our real set, it was a little bit fun to strum the acoustic by candle light and have everyone singing and clapping along so thanks for that. There was a rumor about possibly doing an extra Punk Monday show for people who paid to get in last night. If you paid to see us last night please contact us and we will let you know if there is another show or come up with another way to make sure you get your money's worth.

On the other hand, our video shoot/house show on Saturday came off pretty much without a hitch. It was looking a little dicey with the snow storm and everything but we had a pretty decent turnout and I think everyone had a good point. We also were able to glean some pretty decent audio and video recordings, which brings us to the point of this post...

Check out this video! It's a live recording from our party and beats the pants off the cell-phone-in-a-dive-bar videos we've had on our YouTube channel so far. We hope you enjoy it and we plan to post up a series of other videos from the night too. So please check it out, and please please please...if you like it, SHARE it, and subscribe to our YouTube channel. We are a real grassroots DIY punk rock kinda band without a big promotion machine behind us so we need YOU to SHARE our stuff and get the word out! We know you will come through so thanks in advance for that!

"Smokey the Bandit" Live Jan. 24 2015

January 08, 2015 - Hey listen up! All the bands are confirmed for our Anchorage show at Taproot on January 26th and we are proud to announce that we will be sharing the stage with a formidable act who has been on hiatus for a long time, the one, the only, PJ Franco and the Burnouts! Not only them, but all our pals in Valley Refuse, Dirty Filthy Dead and Russian Sleep Experiment. Five bands, Five bucks, go!

Not to take anything away from our house party video shoot show on January 24th, of course. That's an all ages thing in Wasilla, AK so if you're under 21 or don't feel like making the trek, or you're just awesome and want to be in our video, PLEASE come out! We aren't posting the address since it's a house show but all you gotta do to get in on it is just ask. Or if you prefer you can RSVP on Facebook.

Of course, we've got another Anchorage show booked at the Carousel in February. For those of you not around our home turf? Well, we are taking a look at what our plans are for this summer and our intent is to get the heck out of town for some shows wherever we can find the time and money to get to. So if you want to book us somewhere, contact us. We will consider all offers.

Check out our shows page for more info on all of this stuff.

January 05, 2015 - We may have alluded to it before but now the deposit is paid, the plane tickets are bought....we are recording an album! We'll be teaming up with Eric LaBrosse of Cherry Pit Studios who is coming up to track our new songs starting the first of April. Eric has worked with some pretty awesome bands and he's also licensed a lot of music for use in film and television, so if you don't know his work you've probably heard it. We couldn't be more stoked to work together and finally commit all these months' worth of songwriting to a proper recording. Check out the full press release below.

Wasilla punk rock n' rollers VICIOUS MAMMALS are set to start recording their debut album. Tracking of the 12-track full-length effort is slated to begin in April 2015.

The Mammals have teamed up with producer Eric LeBrosse of Cherry Pit Studios to capture the product of a year and a half of intense songwriting. They're currently streaming a demo track of a song from the upcoming album, "Suzie", on their website: viciousmammals.com. The band plans to stream many more demos and teasers before the album hits the streets this summer.

Merging elements of punk, classic rock, metal and country, the Vicious Mammals have forged a hard rockin' sound and an energetic live performance. Their throwback sound and sleazy lyrics hearken back to a time when rock n' roll was fun -- and a little bit dangerous.

In preparation for the studio, the Vicious Mammals have lined up a series of warm-up gigs in the Anchorage/Valley area. On Jan. 24th they'll be throwing an all-ages video shoot house party in Wasilla, followed by a return to the Taproot in Anchorage for Punk Monday on Jan. 26th. In February they'll be rocking at the Carousel in Anchorage with 3 Kisses, Jay Straw and Citizens Erased.

Please contact Junkyard Jesse at viciousmammals@gmail.com for more info, interviews, or promotional materials.

December 05, 2014 - Hey Anchorage, we got another show coming at you! We just got off the phone and confirmed that we WILL be at THE CAROUSEL on Spenard Road on FEBRUARY 21, 2015. That's a Saturday night. We are really stoked to be invited to play here and we want to make it HUGE! More bands and details will be announced on our shows page when we get them and, of course, we will post a kickin' rad flyer. We also have another iron in the fire right now as far as shows go, so don't despair if you don't see your neighborhood on there. Or better yet, don't wait for someone else to book us -- contact us and let's play your party, bar, whatever!

November 26, 2014 - Did you know we got ourselves a YouTube channel now? You should follow it immediately for lots of rock n roll insanity, like the kind found in the videos below. These were taken at our recent gig at the Taproot in Anchorage on October 27. Check these band boys out:

November 12, 2014 - Two quick points of attention...First off, we want to let you know that we've set up our merch page so you can now buy Vicious Mammals shirts, patches, etc. shipped right to your door. Just think how fabulous you will look wearing a shirt like the one you see below! You should totally buy one, because we're going to need to make some gas money. Why, you might ask? Well it's tentative at this time but it looks like we'll be playing Fairbanks, AK in January! It's still in the works but we will let you know the details once it's confirmed (assuming it is). Keep your eyes peeled on our Shows page for the update on that. We're pretty amped up about venturing up to the Banks to play and we are pretty sure it will be awesome!

November 04, 2014 - Whaddup! Just making a quick post to draw your attention to our Music Page. We posted a couple rough cut demos up there for you to check out so you can hear what we're up to. Saturday we spent about ten hours in the project studio banging out some tracks; meanwhile, we've been consulting with some people who know what the hell they're doing about the possibility of producing our debut album in 2015 (that's all we can tell you right now...). So the point is, we've got good stuff coming but it's going to take a while before it's ready to be unleashed!

That said, we didn't want to leave you hanging. So we decided to post up a couple rough cuts so you can hear what kind of tunes we're working on. Check them out and tell us what you think! If you want to give us some feedback you can catch up with us on Twitter or Facebook. Thanks!
